POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Principal of the West Learning Center will be responsible for all students and staff in the Alternative High School, Reclaim 6:1+1, and Crossroads 8:1+1 programs. The principal will be expected to demonstrate positive leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, and content-specific knowledge related to instructional practices for students with disabilities, as well as at-risk high school students in grades 9-12. The principal will work collaboratively with parents/guardians, component school district personnel, and community partners to ensure positive educational outcomes for all students in an equitable manner.

The West Learning Center Principal will also carry out the Broome-Tioga BOCES Mission, Vision, and Core Values, and will follow a visionary model with strategic planning initiatives.

The principal will assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate teaching experience in grades 9–12 Math. (Experience teaching Algebra preferred)
  • Demonstrate strength in long-term planning to lead to successful student outcomes and for Regents preparation and project-based learning opportunities.
  • Provide direct instruction to high school students, preparing them for challenging Regent exams and successful social emotional learning objectives
  • Work in a team environment focused on educating the whole child and meeting social-emotional needs in an alternative high school setting.
$55,123 Minimum + DOE per BTA Contract

This position is located at the West Learning Center in Apalachin, NY.

Responsibilities:  Assist teacher with classroom work as required.  Assist in lunchroom supervision of the students.  Assist students to and from buses.  Help teacher with preparation of materials for the class.  Does related work as required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach a variety of business and marketing courses to alternative education students. Prefer familiarity with Career & Financial Management curriculum and NYS CDOS standards.
