Job Description

Responsibilities:

The Broome-Tioga BOCES Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) is seeking a flexible and student-focused virtual substitute teacher to support students in grades 4-12.

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons provided by the classroom teacher using virtual platforms (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom, Google Classroom).
  • Facilitate class discussions and activities in a remote setting.
  • Take attendance and report absences
  • Monitor student participation and engagement during live sessions.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful virtual classroom environment
  • Redirect off-task behavior and encourage participation
  • Assist students with basic technology issues

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.  Associate's degree considered.
  • Access to a personal computer and a reliable internet connection
  • Experience working with students in a virtual or hybrid environment preferred.
