MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Paraprofessional Education Support Specialist provides support and empowerment for BOCES Teacher Aide's and School Monitors, both critical members of the special education team, to ensure that all students have the opportunity to be successful. The work involves conducting training courses, building team pride, providing guidance on activities designed to support and enhancing BOCES paraprofessional workforce, and developing new strategies and plans for an improved learning experience and to better serve the students. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent with leeway allowed for the exercise on independent judgment. Does related work as required.

  • Performs new employee onboarding and orientation

  • Develops and implements ongoing professional development programs, workshops, training procedures and resources

Performs general accounting duties such as maintaining a general ledger, making journal entries, advising supervisors in regard to appropriate balances and fund transfers, and reconciling trial balances, bank statements and accounts.  Assists in the development and implementation of new accounting procedures and systems to provide a clear audit trail of financial transactions.  Prepares a variety of financial and statistical reports and analyses to comply with State, Federal and Local requirements, and to provide pertinent information for decision making.  Assists in the preparation of an annual budget including estimation of revenues and appropriations.  Assists in the implementation of new accounting procedures.
