MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the development and distribution of information regarding district events, community programs, and public information.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive public awareness and communication system using direct contact, mass media, and other avenues.
  • Prepare and disseminate press releases to elevate public awareness.
  • Collaborate closely with governmental and community agencies for news conferences and media events.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the school district, media outlets, and other related agencies. 
  • Stay updated on emerging public issues that might impact the education system and keep the superintendent informed.
  • Plan and execute community outreach events to foster positive relations.
  • Provide timely updates to the media on breaking news and significant district events.   
  • Collaborate with educational, public safety, and emergency entities to maintain accurate communication, especially in emergency situations.
  • Oversee the district's digital presence, including the maintenance of the district website and social media accounts.
  • Plan, design, and oversee web-based materials and activities.
  • Foster and nurture relationships with media correspondents, school staff, and the broader community.
  • Address public information requests promptly and provide insights on school district policies and programs.
  • Craft, write, and/or edit speeches, presentations, messages, and other correspondence for the superintendent of schools
