Job Description:

The Director of Business Operations - BOCES Central Business Office (CBO) role is unique, providing strategic direction and leadership for the CBO team members and the region's 15 school districts. Our ideal candidate is service-oriented and collaborative with experience in school business and finance as well as leadership and supervision for a team. Highlights of the Director of Business Operations - BOCES CBO position responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates, attends, and/or presents at meetings with school district leadership teams as requested;
  • Serves as a resource and advisor to the CBO team members and school district leadership teams;
  • Attends and/or presents at Board of Education meetings as requested;
  • Supervises and directs the CBO staff and is responsible for all personnel matters related to the CBO staff;
  • Oversees, offers guidance to, and is responsible for the CBO services provided to participating school districts;
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with CBO team members and school district leadership teams and the Board of Education;
  • Continue to cultivate a healthy culture and improve the employee experience at the CBO;
  • All BOCES leaders are expected to assume additional responsibilities when assigned.

School Business Executive - Shared24-135

Job Description:

This position entails overseeing the business management and accounting operations within a school district.  Responsibilities include managing financial activities under the guidance of the Board of Education and Superintendent.  The School Business Executive plays a pivotal role in steering the business management and accounting functions of our school district.  This position is critical for ensuring the effective and efficient management of our financial resources, underpinning our mission to deliver outstanding education to our students.

$60,000 Minimum + DOE Per BMA Contract

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs general accounting duties such as maintaining a general ledger, making journal entries, advising supervisors in regard to appropriate balances and fund transfers, and reconciling trial balances, bank statements and accounts.  Assists in the development and implementation of new accounting procedures and systems to provide a clear audit trail of financial transactions.  Prepares a variety of financial and statistical reports and analyses to comply with State, Federal and Local requirements, and to provide pertinent information for decision making.  Assists in the preparation of an annual budget including estimation of revenues and appropriations.  Assists in the implementation of new accounting procedures.
